Pretty Little Liars

Introduction

To begin, I chose one of my favorite shows that is very recognizable (even to those who don't watch the show). I contemplated recreating other posters such as "Riverdale", "Mean Girls", "Bring it On", and "Get Out", but this was my favorite.

Background Process

To begin, I started my created the background. I found an image similar to the background wall and flooring and added them to the document. I created a mask to show the wall and floor as if they are one, and not having any overlap. I created another mask to make a vignette-ish filter.

Before & After - Lazy Eye Fix

I used the quick selection tool to select her eye that I wanted to copy. I then copied her eye and placed it over the lazy one. I lined it up with her eye and used the eraser tool to clean up the harsh lines around the edited eye.

Hair Edits

I also had to fill in some of the gaps of their hair to avoid the original background peaking through. I used the color swatch tool to take the hair color of the correct section of their hair. I had to be careful with the different highlights and low lights of their hair.

Fonts

I used dafont.com to find fonts similar to those in original poster. On the "Pretty Little Liars" title, I used a gradient effect to make the font stand out a little more.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I am very satisfied on how my poster ended up. I think it looks very similar to the original poster. In the future, I would take my original picture in an area with less *yellowy* lighting so that the filters I add will be more true to color. I feel that I really refined my skills in masking and quick selection. If I were to redo this, I would not have deleted the pixels around the "girls" and used a mask in case I ever needed to restore the background.
